And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David. 8 And David inquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? 2020.11.19 - Pressed But Not Crushed

Wednesday, November 18, 2020

10:26 AM

1.   Pressed But Not Crushed

a.    2 Corinthians 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.  3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.  6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. KJV

2.   Anointed

a.    Exodus 28:41 And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office. KJV

                            i.         Anoint . . . OT:4886 mashach (maw-shakh'); a primitive root; to rub with oil, i.e. to anoint; by implication, to consecrate; also to paint: KJV - anoint, paint.

2020.11.15 - Rogue Worship

11.15.12 - Rogue Worship

Wednesday, June 24, 2020

3:59 PM

1.     Something Missing (Worship team will invite all to stand, then I will take the stage and preach with no worship until the end of service)

a.     Did you notice the difference?  So, is worship a big deal or not?

2.     What IS worship?

a.     Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. KJV

                              i.         Fear in this verse means to honor, to revere, to reverence

1.     God has created us, and called us to honor Him, to live for Him and to keep His commandments.  But if we keep His commandments and live for Him but fail to give Him honor, or worship, there is just something missing in our lives, and honestly lacking in our faith.

ii.         Matthew 2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. KJV

1.      . . .worship  . . .  [To worship him.] Or, To do him homage; proskuneesai autoo. The word proskuneoo, which is compounded of pros, to, and kuoon, a dog, signifies to crouch and fawn like a dog at his master's feet. It means, to prostrate oneself to another, according to the eastern custom, which is still in use. In this act, the person kneels, and puts his head between his knees, his forehead at the same time touching the ground. It was used to express both civil and religious reverence. (from Adam Clarke's Commentary, Electronic Database. Copyright © 1996, 2003 by Biblesoft, Inc. All rights reserved.)

3.     True Worship Is Not Free

a.     Worship will cost you something. It is more than just a song.  It is more than being on key and clapping in tune.  Worship flows from who you really are on the inside and Who on the inside You decide that He is.  Singing to Him is not worship.

b.     Worship is about Sacrifice -

                              i.         The very first time the word worship is used . . .

1.     Genesis 22:5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship , and come again to you KJV

ii.         Abraham not only was willing to "bow down" but to die to self and give the most precious thing he had to God - his son

c.     Worship is about faith

                              i.         In Genesis 22:5 Abraham told them that he and the lad would return, knowing what God had asked him to do but also knowing that this was The Almighty and that God was able to do absolutely anything! If nothing else worship reminds us Who He really is . . . And that moment we realize His indescribable Character we just want to worship Him all the more

4.     Worship Sets You Apart - The Wise Men

a.      . . .it was worship that led them into harms way . . .and as well it was worship that led them to safety!

b.     It was Herods intent to have Jesus slain - and his anger after the wise men did not return showed that he was ruthless . . .what would have happened to the wise men had they returned to Herod as he requested

                              i.         Herod wanted Jesus dead because he thought Jesus would oppose the throne, so those who supported Jesus, and worshiped Him - would have

                             ii.          been considered the enemy!

1.     Herod actually had members of his own family slain because he thought they may try to take his throne.

c.     What they took to give to Jesus HOW WE WORSHIP

                              i.         There is a tradition that when you come before someone of stature you never come empty handed, you always bring a gift . . .

                             ii.         Gold - his kingship

iii.         Frankincense - for His worship incense

iv.         Myrrh - for His death and burial
