2021.11.28 - Truth

Some Things Are Relative

·      To culture

John 14:6

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way , the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. KJV

Truth is defined here as:

Not concealing, Alpha, Beginning, nothing concealed

Truth Is Not . . .

·      Relative

·

·      Subject to mankind

·

·      Created, Truth is a Person, actually The Person of Jesus Christ!

Truth Will Not . . .

·      Change with culture

·      Condemn but rather set free

·

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. KJV

Caution Signs From God

2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

KJV

2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets, too, in those days, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly tell their lies about God, turning against even their Master who bought them; but theirs will be a swift and terrible end. 2 Many will follow their evil teaching that there is nothing wrong with sexual sin. And because of them Christ and his way will be scoffed at.

3 These teachers in their greed will tell you anything to get hold of your money.

God Does Not Change!

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. KJV

Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. KJV

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. KJV

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? KJV

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. KJV

Psalms 102:25  Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: 27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end. KJV

Isaiah 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

2021.11.21 - Time For A Change

John 14:1-6

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way , the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. KJV

·       Jesus was speaking on believing, both in God and in Him. He was making a comment but also making a command – His command was for those who were following Him to “let not your heart be troubled”

·       Jesus was clear that He had no intent to leave those who follow Him where they were, but rather for them to come where He was at, to follow Him.  This was exactly how He called several of them, just found them sitting and called to them to “follow me”

·       Look at who He is speaking to directly, Thomas –

o   Who had his own share of doubts

o   Thomas walked in flesh and thought in horizontal lines, having trouble getting past what he knew to be real, solid and tried

Thomas

Only mentioned in Matthew, Mark and Luke to include his name in the list of apostles

It is likely that he suffered the most with the “human condition” He was just a man like the rest.

John 11:16 – let us go that we may die with him

John 14:5 – we don’t know where you are going, how are we to know how to get there?

John 20:24 he was not with the disciples when Jesus first showed them His hands and His sides – but later Jesus came to him and his response was “My Lord and my God

John 21:3 goes fishing w/ Peter

Acts 1:13 he was there in the upper room at the time of Pentecost

David

1 Samuel 13:14 & Acts 13:22 – a man after God’s own heart

Sinned with Bathsheba

Murdered her husband

Repented when Nathan told him he was the man, (not in a good way)

  • Jesus is The Way - I can either get in the way or out of the way.  I can get in the way in such a way that I am in the way.  I can stop His moving me forward, I can thwart His blessings in my life due to my stubborn pride and arroagance or I can get in line with Him and FOLLOW Him.
    • The way means A WAY - through the complexities of this life, out of the pit that I have dug for myself and far from the dust and broken dreams of yesterday

I can either be a victim of my past or victorious in spite of it!

I can either look at my experiences as "how bad the world can be" or as "how Good my God is"

I may not be able to control what happens in my life but I Can control how I allow it to affect me and move me forward.  I can move forward with my past tied around my neck as a drowning weight or shoot forward in a victorious fury as I release myself from it's grasp as an arrow from a bow - the choice is all mine, and honestly, I make the choice often, perhaps even daily.

2021.11.14 - Psalm 51

Psalm 51:1

Psalms 51:1Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. KJV

Friday, November 12, 2021

3:20 PM

·       Have mercy on me . . .

In even this David confesses his guilt before God.  He knows what he has done and knows where this puts him in his standing with God, and man.

·       According to they lovingkindness

o   THY - not like men do I ask for mercy, I ask for mercy from God, Who forgives!  Who REALLY forgive

·       Multitude of thy tender mercies

o   Which are new every morning

o   There is more than one "mercy"

·       Abundance, common, many more in number

·       To multiply by the myriad

·       Ten thousands

§  Maybe this was not the first time David fell, nor the last, but he knew His God, he knew his heart was not right and asked God to also fix his heart, he knew that this would not be the first nor the last time he would need to come before his Great God for mercy, for fixing what he alone had broken

·       Blot out my transgressions

o   Erase

o   Abolish

o   Utterly wipe away

Transgressions, Iniquity, Sin

Trinity, Triune man

Friday, November 12, 2021

3:32 PM

1.     Transgressions -

a.     OT:6588 pesha` (peh'-shah); from OT:6586; a revolt (national, moral or religious): KJV - rebellion, sin, transgression, trespass.

                              i.         Rebellion is done by knowing there is a standard or boundary and mindfully going against what is right

1.     Knowing the boundary is there and crossing it willingly

2.     Iniquity -

a.     OT:5771 `avon (aw-vone'); or `avown (2 Kings 7:9; Psalms 51:5 [OT:7]) (aw-vone'); from OT:5753; perversity, i.e. (moralevil: KJV - fault, iniquity, mischeif, punishment (of  iniquity), sin.

                              i.         Things that I have inside me that are against The Character of Who God is

ii.         Things that I say, do, think or am that are not like God

3.     Sin -

a.     OT:2403 chatta'ah (khat-taw-aw'); or chatta'th (khat-tawth'); from OT:2398; an offence (sometimes habitual sinfulness), and its penalty, occasion, sacrifice, or expiation; also (concretely) an offender: KJV - punishment (of sin), purifying (-fication for sin), sin (-ner, offering).

                              i.         OT:2398 chata' (khaw-taw'); a primitive root; properly, to miss; hence (figuratively and generally) to sin; by inference, to forfeit, lack, expiate, repent, (causatively) lead astray, condemn: KJV - bear the blame, cleanse, commit [sin], by fault, harm he hath done, loss, miss, (make) offend (-er), offer for sin, purge, purify (self), make reconciliation, (cause, make) sin (-ful, -ness), trespass.

Psalm 51:3

Psalms 51:3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me KJV

Friday, November 12, 2021

3:48 PM

1.     Transgressions -

a.     David was admitting there was more than one instance in his life that needed attention

2.     My sin is ever before me -

a.     Perhaps there are hounds of heaven and hounds of hell

                            i.         Psalm 23 speaks of the mercy and grace of God following David all the days of his life, and I have heard that equated with the hounds of heaven, well here is the opposite of that.

ii.         I cannot escape my guild, my shame will follow me to the farthest reaches

1.     Likely because I remain, while somewhat removed because of my sin, in the Presence of a holy God.  His mercy and grace are there because He  is well aware that they are needed, now I am aware that they are needed and call to Him

Psalm 51:4

Psalms 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. KJV
