1.   Intercession . . . In The Lord's Prayer
a.    Luke 11:1And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. 2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. 3 Give us day by day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. 5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? 7 And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. 8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunityhe will rise and give him as many as he needeth. 9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?KJV
                             i.        Importunity. . .
1.   NT:335 anaideia (an-ah'-ee-die-ah'); from a compound of NT:1 (as a negative particle [compare NT:427]) and NT:127; impudence, i.e. (by implication) importunity: KJV - importunity.

3.   Luke 18:2Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.KJV
d.   God is literally looking for those men of the earth who will stand in the gap, putting others first, seeking "bread" for those  around them Romans 9:3 iii. Luke 18:2
                                                        i.        Romans 9:3For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:KJV

2.   Intercession . . . For A City
a.    Isaiah 62:6I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention  of the Lord, keep not silence, 7 And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.KJV

a.    Job 1:5And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually. KJV
b.   Exodus 12:3Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an houseKJV

b.   Psalms 66:18If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:KJV
5.   Intercession . . .And Repentance

b.   Daniel 9:1In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans; 2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. 3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplication, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:(DANILE WAS HUMBLING HIMSELF) 4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; 5 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments: 6 Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. 7 O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee. 8 O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. 9 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him; 10 Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. 11 Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.KJV

2 Chronicles 7::1Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.  2 And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD's house. 3 And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. 4 Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the LORD. 5 And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God. 6 And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood. 7 Moreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the brasen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offerings, and the meat offerings, and the fat. 8 Also at the same time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt. 9 And in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days. 10 And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart for the goodness that the LORD had shewed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people. 11 Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD, and the king's house: and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected. 12 And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.
13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. 16 For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.KJV

Leviticus 6:12And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings. 13 The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.KJV

Exodus 27:20And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.KJV

1 Samuel 3:1And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision. 2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see; 3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;KJV

Exodus 33:13Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people. 14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
15 And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. 16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth. 17 And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name. 18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.KJV

1.     The Blessed Life

a.     Far too many Christians live as if salvation is nothing more than a "get out of hell free" card

b.     God has called us to far more . . .God has called us to

                              i.         Be conformed to the image of His Son

                             ii.         A life of holiness

                           iii.         A life of miracles

iv.         A life of power and not medocrity

2.     Church is . . .

a.     Not a social club but a power house for the soul

3.     If I Blessed Then I Am Good (not)

a.     Just because God blesses something does not mean He agrees with it. This is shallow and juvenile thinking

                              i.         Abraham - Hagar

ii.         Multiple wives in the OT

b.     Depart from Me - I never knew you!

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils ? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. KJV

4.     God Put Himself Inside Us - We Must Release Him!

a.     Matthew 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8 Heal the sick , cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

KJV

a.     God did not say to go about praying that these things would happen - He said to go about making these things happen, it is HIS POWER but our prerogative!

b.     Acts 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, 9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; 10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. 13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. KJV

                              i.         Those around us should be able to tell that we have BEEN WITH JESUS!

c.     Matthew 5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. 41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. 43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust . KJV

2018.04.18 - Love And Ownership

2018.04.18 - Love & Ownership

1 John 3:18My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.KJV

I love my God.  I love my wife.  I love my dog.  I love my truck.

How can we use the same word to express our thoughts on so varied a target?  I do love God.  I do love my wife.  But the "feelings' for my dog and my truck are quite different.  I love my dog.  She is a good dog and behaves (most of the time) but if she suddenly just chose to lose her mind and start to bite me each time I reached out to pet her, or tear up all of my things and just be awful, I am not sure that I would each day CHOOSE to still love her.  It would hurt me to get rid of her, to not have her in my life, but my emotional response to her is based on how she responds to me.  I OWN her, she belongs to me, she is my property.  My love for her then, is somewhat conditional.  Under the right conditions I lavish her with praises and treats and belly rubs.  Different conditions may prompt a post on craiglist something about needing a good home . . .

I love my wife . . .I am in love with her after 20+ years of marriage.  I CHOOSE to love her daily, and I must say that it is an easy choice.  My love for her is deep and I pray unconditional.  Sometimes we disagree, even argue at times and maybe even not like what each other is doing at the present time, but she loves me and I love her. Marriage for many has come to mean "I give you my love as long as certain conditions are met" just like me and my dog, but that denotes something entirely different than love, that speaks of ownership.  You give me something I want, something I need and in return I will "love" you. That is not the kind of love Christ has for us, nor the kind of love God wants us to share with others, especially our spouses.

1.    The Trademark Of The Church
a.    John 13:35By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples , if ye have love one to another.KJV
2.    Love The Right Way
a.    1 John 4:7Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love . 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.KJV
3.    Love Defined
a.    Charity in1Corinthians 13
                              i.        NT:26 agape (ag-ah'-pay); from NT:25; love, i.e. affection or benevolence; specially (plural) a love-feast: KJV - (feast of) charity ([-ably]), dear, love.
1.    NT:25 agapao (ag-ap-ah'-o); perhaps from agan (much) [or compare OT:5689]; to love (in a social or moral sense): KJV - (be-) love (-ed). Compare NT:5368.

2018.04.15 - Transformation

 Follow Me
I have a bit of a middle age spread going on, a belly.  I actually look about 7 months pregnant.  If I were to try to convince you that I was pregnant you would likely not believe me, you would say that it is impossible.  I could counter that I LOOK pregnant, that my words SAY that I'm pregnant, and even go so far as to see a doctor and take prenatal vitamins but at the end of the conversation unless you saw me give birth you would not be convinced.  Jesus said FOLLOW ME - and that literally meant He wanted those who followed to BE LIKE HIM.  Not just walk along some paces behind Him but to be transformed into the likeness of Him in all we say and do.  The world is in a time where they don't need to be told that we are pregnant - that we are Christians - but they need to BE SHOWN by the radical transformation continually taking place in our lives, impossible things happening all around us and the Christ in us that we are Christians!

Matthew 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me , and I will make you fishers of menKJV
                                              i.     Follow –
1.    NT:1205 deute (dyoo'-teh); from NT:1204 and an imperative form of eimi (to go); come hither!: KJV - come, follow.
a.    NT:1204 deuro (dyoo'-ro); of uncertain affinity; here; used also imperative hither!; and of time, hitherto: KJV - come (hither), hither [-to].
                                                                                                    i.     COME WHERE I AM!
2.    NT:3694 opiso (op-is'-o); from the same as NT:3693 with enclitic of direction; to the back, i.e. aback (as adverb or preposition of time or place; or as noun): KJV - after, back (-ward), (+get) behind, follow.
a.    NT:3693 opisthen (op'-is-then); from opis (regard; from NT:3700) with enclitic of source; from the rear (as a secure aspect), i.e. at the back (adverb and preposition of place or time): KJV - after, backside, behind.
                                                                                                    i.     NT:3700 optanomai (op-tan'-om-ahee); a (middle voice) prolonged form of the primary (middle voice) optomai (op'-tom-ahee); which is used for it in certain tenses; and both as alternate of NT:3708; to gaze (i.e. with wide-open eyes, as at something remarkable; and thus differing from NT:991, which denotes simply voluntary observation; and from NT:1492, which expresses merely mechanical, passive or casual vision; while NT:2300, and still more emphatically its intensive NT:2334, signifies an earnest but more continued inspection; and NT:4648 a watching from a distance): KJV - appear, look, see, shewself.
1.    ESSENTIALLY – SEE ME AND BECOME LIKE ME
b.    Matthew 4:20 And they straightway left their nets , and followed him. KJV
                                              i.     Those who followed Him at this point forsook all, they literally walked away from an old life into a new life and quite literally began to follow Jesus around.  They were WITH him, physically.  There was time spent with Him.
