1.    Melchizedek

a.    Name means

                               i.         King of righteousness

                             ii.         Also called the King of Salem

2.    First Mention

a.    Abram (not yet Abraham) went to retrieve Lot who was taken in battle with the Assyrians

                               i.         Two kings met Abram

1.    The king of Sodom, which means:

a.    Scorch

b.    Burn

c.    Volcanic

d.    Place near the Dead Sea 

2.    The king of Salem which means:

a.    Complete

b.    Made ready 

c.    Give again 

d.    Finish 

e.    Restore

                             ii.         Abram recognized and acknowledges him as his superior, without question

                           iii.         Abram is noted as the Friend of God

1.    James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. KJV

b.    Approximately 1000 years passes before another mention is made of Melchizedek

                               i.         It is interesting that in this Psalm war is being discussed

1.    Psalms 110  The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. 2 The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. 3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. 4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. 5 The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. 6 He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries. 7 He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head. KJV

3.    Not From The Levitical Order

a.    Hebrews 5:1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: 2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. 3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. 4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. 5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. 6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. KJV

                               i.         Hebrews 5:10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. KJV

                             ii.         Hebrews 7:21(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:) KJV

b.    Saul tried to be king and priest and lost his kingdom because of it 

                               i.         1 Samuel 13:8 And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him. 

9 And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering. 10 And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him. 11 And Samuel said, What hast thou done? c.    Jesus was not from the Tribe of Levi, but of Judah 

                               i.         Hebrews 7:13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. 15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, 16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. KJV

1.    It seems that Jesus (NT) and Melchizedek (OT) were the only named dual role kings/priests

4.    Hebrews 11

a.    Hebrews 6:17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; 20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 

b.    Hebrews 7:1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; 3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils. 5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:  But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. 7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better. 8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. 9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. 10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him. 11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? 12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. 13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. 15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, 16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. 19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

1.    Poor, Sick And Tired

a.    For 12 years remained sick and even got worse

b.    Lost all of her finances to pay off doctors that would not or could not help her

2.    Pass Out Or Press In 

a.    How often do we pray and when we do not "see it" right then our passion decreases?  We may still pray but each time we don’t see it we may choose to pray with less intensity rather than more.

                               i.         Those that are coming to us for prayer do not decrease in their intensity when things don’t get better - rather they "come in the press behind" and reach out for Him with all that they have 

3.    You Have The Answer

                               i.         You have the Answer living inside of you 

1.    To depression 

2.    To sickness

3.     to addiction 

4.    To poverty

5.    To sin

4.    Four Guys And The Church

                               i.         The four were a picture of what the church was supposed to be - those standing around were a picture of what the Church has become.  

1.    They did not seem to be aware that one was in need of help

1.    Choose to not just stand around and wait but pray fire down from heaven  and shout the Gospel from the rooftops until all are healed and until all have heard

                              i.         Healed by Jehovah

b.     Son of Amon 

                              i.         Amon

1.     Was 22 when he began to reing

2.     Reigned for only 2 years

3.     Completely forsook The Lord

4.     Was murdered by his servants in his own house

c.     Made a king by the people after his father was killed by his servants

d.     Was only 8 years old when he began to reign as king 

e.     Reigned for 31 years 

f.      First 12 Chapters of Daniel refer to the period of his reign

 

2.     Unwavering Faith From Youth

We will allow ourselves to change into what they think we should be in order to fit into their mould and in the process completely lose sight of who we are and who God created us to be   If you see yourself as a grasshopper then that is what you will become

People do matter, but their opinions don't always matter.  You may consider what others have to say but consider it in relation to who they are in your life and the lives of others.  Just because a person has influence in the lives of others doesn’t necessarily mean they should have influence in your life.
