2021.12.01 - Desperate

Desperation

What God is able to do in and through us when we are desperate

Hannah

&

Samuel

If Hannah had not been barren who’s to say if she would’ve given Samuel  to The Lord?

What did Samuel accomplish in his life?

·      Anointed Saul king  - - - - - - - - - - - - -

She was actually barren for around 19 years.

1 Samuel 9:27 And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God. 10:1 Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his  inheritance?  KJV

·      Anointed David King - - - - - - - - - - - -

1 Samuel 16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah. KJV

Herod

So desperate to keep his kingdom he had all the babies killed - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Matthew 2:16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. KJV

Sarah

Was desperate enough for a child she gave her handmaid to her husband Abraham

This caused both her and Abraham pain

·      Ishmael mocked Isaac

·      Sarah made Abraham send Hagar and Ishmael away

Rachel

Gave her handmaid to her husband to have kids

Her sisters kids are the ones that threw  -Joseph into the well then sold him as a slave

Jacob & Leah’s Sons

·      Rebuen

·      Simeon

·      Levi

·      Judah

·      Issachar

·      Zebulon

·      Dan

·      Naphtali

Jacob & Zilpah’s sons

·      Gad

·      Asher

Jacob & Rachel’s sons

·      Joseph

·      Benjamin

·      It may look bad but God is in control

·      God used it for good

·      He provided the man that would feed the nation in the time of famine

How much better is God’s way than our own?

Children of Israel

·      Waited 400 years to leave Egypt

·      Were they not desperate?

·      Had they grown accustomed to being slaves?

·      Were they comfortable?

·      After the Exodus they cried with things got rough

o    Why did God bring us here to die?

o   We could’ve stayed in Egypt where we had all we needed

§  Yet they were beaten and worked very hard to live

§  Now God provides everything for them

§  THEY HAD TO TRUST

Just Trust Him

How much better our lives would be if we trusted God is in control and He knows best.  It may not be when we feel like it should happen gut God’s timing is the best timing

What Will It Take?

What will it take for us to become desperate for God?  Desperate for a move of God? For Him to turn and hear our cries.  That we stop worrying about what people may think about us and worry what God thinks of us.

What God Sees

People see our outward appearance but God sees our hearts

We need desperate hearts that need a  - - move of God and need revival.

Not just seeking His hand that gives but HIS FACE  then He will hear our cries and heal our land

How long will we put up w/ what is taking place?

What’s it going to take for us to become so desperate that we seek His face?

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. KJV

Revelation 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. KJV

Not By Might . . .

Zechariah 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. KJV
