1. Then she arose . . .

b. Came to Herself
i. She realized that she was not from Moab, that she was not a Moabite but rather an Ephrathite
ii. There were seeds of faith that were watered by the Good Word of The Lord
iii. There was yet resurrection in her dead spirit and faith
iv. She realized what she was missing and the cost of her being in Moab was greater than any cost there might be for returning home

a. Naomi spoiled Egypt
i. While she had nothing of her own God gave her Ruth, who would be part of her "redemption" and return to solid ground so to speak
1. She had no husband to care for her and provide her w/ more sons
2. She had no sons to care for her and provide her with grandchildren and heritage continuation of lineage
3. Ruth was provision for both of those needs

a. Those in darkenss are still aware of what can happen in the light
i. They may not fully understand or accept it but may well be aware

1. Naomi left Bethlehem Judah for lifes sake and found death - she leaves Moab for death's sake and finds life

· Comes a time to move. Whether it be the moving of the cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night or the realization that I am not where God intended me to be, either physically or spiritually

1. . . .GO . . .
a. The offer, the temptation to return, was not made at home, it was made while IN THE JOURNEY.
i. This was a choice about life and death, were they going to serve God or self
ii. Here right smack dab in the middle of a journey was an altar of decision, a crossroads. They were just trying to figure it all out and here was this most serious of choices that must be made. Why does it seem that in the most dire of times comes the hardest of tests? The life changing moments don’t come when we are rooted with sword in hand but rather mostly when we have been wounded and lie seemingly naked and vulnerable
1. Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest . 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. KJV
2. . . .return . . .
a. This is the same word from Ruth 1:7, now the choice is most clear, they are not home yet, they were somewhere in the journey and the choice was to RETURN home or RETURN to Bethlehem Judah, and for the two of them they must make a choice between something they had heard about and something they knew well and were comfortable with .
i. Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. 3. . . Each to her mothers house . . .
a. To go forward meant together, to go back meant separation
i. You can almost see the transaction between Christ and Peter in the New Testament . . .

John 6:66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. 67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? 68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. b. There was measure of safety, of security, of what was known in going back.
i. Their culture and way of life
ii. Their families and friends
iii. Their familiar
Hebrews 4:12
