1. Question For This Easter Service
a. I was asked the following question . . .
i. What motivated the apostles to accept that Jesus Christ had died and rose again?
2. Word Of Mouth
a. The best advertisement is word of mouth
i. I will believe what you say about a product in a ten second conversation more than what a 10K 30 second advertisement will tell me all the time
3. Experience Or Argument?
a. A man with an experience is never at the mercy of a man with an argument - Leonard Ravenhill
4. Experiencing Is Believing
a. God puts faith in us to believe in Him from birth
i. Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. KJV
1. God has given you a special gift and you must decide who and what you are!
5. The Apostles
a. Were THERE. They weren't just going on what they had heard, or what was spewing from the synagogue, they SAW Jesus, live, in person. They heard His voice, they ate with Him.
b. These people were not well trained evangelists prepped in Soul Winning 101 - they were normal everyday you and I's that encountered Someone so different that they literally walked away from jobs and lifestyles just to hear what more He had to say.
c. Matthew -
i. he was the son of Alphaeus
ii. was a publican or tax-gatherer at Capernaum.
iii. On one occasion Jesus, coming up from the side of the lake, passed the custom-house where Matthew was seated, and said to him, "Follow me." Matthew arose and followed him, and became his disciple
d. Mark -
i. He was the son of Mary, a woman apparently of some means and influence
ii. was probably born in Jerusalem, where his mother resided
iii. Of his father we know nothing.
iv. He was cousin of Barnabas
e. Luke -
i. Was a physician
ii. Followed the apostle Paul for a period
6. He SAW
a. John 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. 2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple , whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. 3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple , and came to the sepulchre. 4 So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. 5 And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. 6 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, 7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. 8 Then went in also that other disciple , which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. KJV
