1. Why Have The Holy Ghost
a. That we may have power to witness
i. Our witness is that of Jesus Christ
ii. Our witness is to extend from home, to state, to country to the world
2. You Shall Receive Power
a. Power - NT:1411 dunamis (doo'-nam-is); from NT:1410; force (literally or figuratively); specially, miraculous power (usually by implication, a miracle itself): KJV - ability, abundance, meaning, might (-ily, -y, -y deed), (worker of) miracle (-s), power, strength, violence, mighty (wonderful) work.
i. NT:1410 dunamai (doo'-nam-ahee); of uncertain affinity; to be able or possible: KJV - be able, can (do, -not), could, may, might, be possible, be of power.
b. John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. KJV
3. Full Of Power
a. Acts 6:8 And Stephen , full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. KJV
4. Could Not Resist
a. Acts 6:10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake KJV
5. Face Of An Angel
a. Acts 6:15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel. KJV
6. The Most Powerful Witness
a. Acts 7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. 57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, 58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. 59 And they stoned Stephen , calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. 60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge.
