2023.02.05 - Before I Do After I Did - What It Is And When It Ain't

Marriage is defined as

God made marriage because it was not good that man be alone . . .

Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. KJV

Help - surround, protect, aid

Mate - other side

What a man and woman want and what they need are two different things, wise couples find out what their spouse needs and supply that and the wants are the cherry on the top!

Cleave -

OT:1692 dabaq (daw-bak'); a primitive root; properly, to impinge, i.e. cling or adhere; figuratively, to catch by pursuit:

KJV - abide fast, cleave (fast together), follow close (hard after), be joined (together), keep (fast), overtake, pursue hard, stick, take.

Two separate elements come together to be joined it will depend on what they are made up of as to how easy that will be.  Soft clay will form together and the more pressure and heat that is applied will in time cause two distinct colors to meld into one and no one could really tell what they looked life before

Hard and brittle clay will have to be broken piece by piece and stirred together to join another piece of hard brittle clay, you can see they are together, of a sort, but still very much independent of each other

Sometimes one will be hard and brittle and the other soft and pliable, the soft just wraps around the other - there is togetherness but not as God intended

What makes the difference is the moisture in the clay - or the lack thereof.  A threefold Cord is not easily broken and God wishes to be at the very heart and center of the marriage

Matthew 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,

5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.KJV

Love  alone won’t save a marriage, or even make one.  God loved the world but it was His sacrifice that saved it.

It is for life and can I just say that just because you have hit a rough spot

Expectations VS Reality
