1. 1. Partial Truth

1. a. James 4:7 Resist the devil , and he will flee from you. KJV

1. i. We have all heard and love this Scripture, but most lies are built on partial truths

1. ii. James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil , and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. KJV

1. 1. Submit - NT:5293 hupotasso (hoop-ot-as'-so); from NT:5259 and NT:5021; to subordinate; reflexively, to obey: KJV - be under obedience (obedient), put under, subdue unto, (be, make) subject (to, unto), be (put) in subjection (to, under), submit self unto.

1. 2. Resist - NT:436 anthistemi (anth-is'-tay-mee); from NT:473 and NT:2476; to stand against, i.e. oppose:  KJV - resist, withstand.

1. 3. Cleanse - purge, purify

1. a. I am the one who is to stand, I am the one who is to oppose.  There is a measure of my walk that is up to me

1. i. I want to get saved, delivered, healed and walk in complete victory and never have to fight.  I want it easy.

1. ii. God wants me to learn to fight, to conquer and to walk in victory.

1. 2. Worship & Praise

1. a. Praise feels good

1. i. There is an element of excitement and joy

1. ii. Praise can and does sometimes involve flesh

1. b. Worship goes deeper

1. c. Sunday we talked about making Jesus both Savior and Lord of our lives:

1. i. The children of Israel were all on board leaving Egypt

1. ii. They lost their way - or their hearts - in following Him into The Promised Land

1. 1. Many became rebellious 

1. a. Rebellious following is not submission or obedience

1. i. it is more like witchcraft - I follow because I have to and not because I want to 

1. d. John 4:24  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. KJV

1. i. Worship is a spiritual celebration of our relationship with God.

1. 3. Focus Of My Affection

1. a. Hebrews 12:1-4

12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. KJV
