I. Closer Than Ever Before
a. Unique place and time in history
i. Same wars and rumors
ii. Same perverted sexuality
iii. Same falling away and the same gathering in
iv. Democracies, empires and kingdoms are still rising and falling in the blink of an eye
v. Satan is still plaquing planet earth and prince the power of the air
vi. God is still on the throne Most High and Jesus still sits at his right hand making intercession for mankind who call upon His Name
b. What is unique then . . . ?
i. We are closer than any race, generation or living soul at this moment to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ than anyone that has ever lived has been!
ii. We have more ability to study and spread The Word of God than previous generations of prophets teachers and preachers even dreamed of.
1. They were not wrong to live the way they lived – looking for His Coming.
2. Many that have gone before us lived out what they believed.
II. The Remnant
a. There has always been those who have fallen and failed to keep covenant with The Almighty
i. those who have tasted and seen that The Lord is Good and then ate from a different tree
ii. Those that have walked and talked with Him in the cool of the day then listened to a differed voice
iii. Those that supped with Him, sat with Him and yet separated from Him for a few coins
b. But . . . there has always been a remnant
i. There has always been those who have been bought with the Blood of The Lamb but refuse to again be sold into slavery of sin
ii. Those who have been tempted with cash and coin and come forth as gold
iii. Those tent within which they live will not dictate where they lie nor where they stand
c. There has always been a remnant of movers and shakers who refuse to stand still, lie down, go back or back down
d. The Remnant lives not as much in the now as in the future – looking unto Jesus, looking unto Heaven, looking unto eternity, gazing intently at the assignment that they alone will fulfill because they have not forsaken.
i. The remnant needs
1. A right now Word from Heaven
2. A right now anointing
3. A right now assignment
4. A right now authority
5. A right now sanctification
6. A right now baptism of The Holy Ghost
7. A right now upper room to pray in
III. The Old Testament, The New Testament and the Now Testament
a. In The NT the word “testament” is defined as
i. NT:1242 diatheke (dee-ath-ay'-kay); from NT:1303; properly, a disposition, i.e. (specially) a contract (especially a devisory will): KJV - covenant, testament.
1. That comes from two words that means to “put apart” or to “appoint”
ii. Righteous Appointment of a now generation
1. Isaiah 61:1-7
61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.
7 For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them. KJV
b. In The Old Testament there was law
c. In The New Testament there was Grace and Truth
d. In the now testament there is a remnant of faithful who have revival in their hearts and authority on their lips.
i. These are
1. The Pauls – in declaring I will not be ashamed
2. The Peters – in declaring He is The Christ, The Son of the Living God!
3. They are joined by
a. The Billy Grahams who remain spotless in a grounded amidst chaos and confusion
b. There are in their ranks Pentecostals, Baptists, Free Holiness and Undenominational men and women alike.
c. There are teachers and preachers, pastors and evangelists and apostles who have not bowed a knee to compromise and have not fallen asleep and are not looking for a revival but walk as an evidence of revival themselves!
IV. The Remnant & Revival Makers
a. The Apostle Paul sent his declaration to The Church at Philippi – his declaration that he had not yet arrived but that he was not going to stop moving forward and in no way was he going to be found going back, or even looking over his shoulder . . . . Philippians 3:13-15
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. KJV
V. Yesterday Today and Forever
a. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. KJV
b. James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. KJV
VI. Revival Was Yesterday
a. Think about it . . .
i. Do we want to return to where we USED TO BE or GO WHERE WE HAVE NEVER BEEN BEFORE?
ii. Revival is what is needed when we fall back, when we turn around, when we lose sight of God, what happens when we DON’T!?!?!?
1. What if we return to the fountain before we are empty?
2. What happens when we hit the altars before we sin?
3. What happens when we thank Him before He even blesses us?
4. What happens when we drink from our saucer because our cup has overflowed?
5. What happens when we walk in, live in and reproduce abundance?
6. What happens when we stop looking for revival and in essence become what Revival looks like?
7. You represent not only what has been but what can be!
VII. The Sent Remnant
a. John 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. KJV
b. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. KJV
