1.     Death of Israel 

a.     Genesis 50:15 And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him. 6 And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying, 17 So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him. 18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants. KJV

                          i.         Josephs brothers had lived with - 

1.     Guilt - guilt over what they had done to their brother.  Though it would seem that in all this time Joseph had forgiven them they had yet to truly forgive themselves.  They walked in guilt and condemnation. Can you even imagine, every time they saw him, every time they heard his voice, every time they ate food that came from his hand and each step they took as they walked through the land that he was essentially in control of - the fear, the guild and the condemnation that came from knowing what they had done to him all those years before

2.     Lack of Faith in Joseph - 

a.     He had fed them

b.     He had brought them into the land and taken very good care of them all this time

c.     He had told them at least on one occasion that he had forgiven them and that all was well and that it was actually God that had brought him into Egypt for a divine purpose, yet they did not have faith in what he said and in their hearts and minds knew at any moment he would have his revenge from what had been done . . .do we not often have the same relationship w/ God?  After all that He has done and all the blessings He has showered us with we will still at times falter in our faith and wonder if He will avenge the wrongs we have done

3.     And because of a lack of faith in Joseph and because of guilt of what they had done they
