RECAP
- We are not struggling to survive - we are struggling to be born again
- The gateway of struggling and suffering is often the Door of Promotion
- You want to rebuild - God wants to rebirth
- We can have years to prepare and still not be ready when the time comes,
- Frogs are born into one world and grow to live in another- whales can drown in the water and suffocate on land.
- If we fail to look past the past and even the present towards Heaven, we may fail to reach it
- Don’t get trapped in a moment - capture the moment but don’t let it capture you.
- Memories of the past should set you free not hold you back
- God may not resurrect the thing that died, but He may well resurrect the part of you that died with the thing
- Your world has not ended - just the world as you know it
Lot's wife was in no danger at all - as long as she did what she was told by God
- Her entire world and all that she knew was literally burning to the ground, behind her. BEHIND HER. God had made provision to deliver her, before the fire began to fall
- She was hurting, afraid, and suffering great loss in her life as a parent and citizen of a city and culture that was burning down around her - but in all that she was perfectly SAFE , though NOT perfectly COMFORTABLE
- Some miss their blessing because they can’t navigate through the people
- Everybody was touching Him but not everybody was being healed
Make sure there is a crossing over time
“Remember Lot's wife.”
Luke 17:32 KJV
https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.17.32.KJV
We aren’t told her name because we already know it
- Regret
- Fear
- Doubt
- Mediocrity
- Unrealized dreams and wants
- Pride
- Self
Hebrews 12:1-2
12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. KJV
Forgetting the things that are behind . . .
- Nothing would ever be the same so why look back
- We glorify the past as if it was all that but with time we can and do forget how bad things really were
- You spend years preparing and still not be "ready" to let go and go
- It is easier to look behind in our "sight" and see what we are leaving behind instead of looking ahead by "faith" and see what we have to gain
The world has changed - God has not
- Malachi 3:6
6 For I am the LORD, I change not; KJV
- Hebrews 13:8
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. KJV
Remember Lot's wife
Remember - NT:3421 mnemoneuo (mnay-mon-yoo'-o); from a derivative of NT:3420; to exercise memory, i.e. recollect; by implication to punish; also to rehearse:
KJV - make mention; be mindful, remember.
Lot - veil, covering, cast, wrap
Wife -
She was torn between what she was leaving and where she was going
- Sometimes when you leave something, even a season, it becomes hard to separate the good from the bad. She must have had some good memories there, she certainly had family and friends and a home to be loved there but still Sodom was a horrible place of wickedness and evil
- We can become attached to seasons and feelings just as we can become attached to people and places
It is important to note that she was following Lot - her body was moving in one direction while the rest of her remained in a burning down city. We can say we are following The Lord but our heart may not be in it
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. KJV
You can be the first . . . Or the last in your family to do something
You can be the first to break free from addiction, bondage, pain, fear or mediocrity.
You can be the last person in your family to face this generational curse, this addiction, this mentality.
We don’t get the results we want when we want so we stop trying - we succumb to the past because that is all w know
Being a follower of Jesus means that we follow Him, all the way, to where He is, to where He is calling. I don’t just get to where I want me to be then sit down and wait for the trumpet to sound, I follow Him to where He is, and to where He wants me to be
MAKE SURE THERE IS A CROSSING OVER TIME
