- 1. Ruth 1:1 Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem Judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons. KJV
- a. Sojourn
- i. OT:1481 guwr (goor); a primitive root; properly, to turn aside from the road (for a lodging or any other purpose), i.e. sojourn (as a guest); also to shrink, fear (as in a strange place); also to gather for hostility (as afraid): KJV - abide, assemble, be afraid, dwell, fear, gather (together), inhabitant, remain, sojourn, stand in awe, (be) stranger, surely.

- i. Bethlehem - house of bread
- ii. Judah - Praise
- 2. Ruth 1:3 And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons. 4 And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years. 5 And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband. KJV
- a. When you leave the House of Bread and forsake praise Death enters in.
- b. We don’t leave because we are not right with God - actually that is the very reason we STAY
- 3. Ruth 1:6 Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread. KJV
- 4. Psalms 22:1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? 2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent. 3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. KJV
- a. He did not inhabit
- i. Words of roaring
- ii. The issue or complaint
- iii. The whining or even the truth of the whining
- iv. Even the facts!
- b. He DID inhabit
- i. The praises of His people !
- c. Praise will
- i. Bypass barrenness
- ii. Deflect death
- iii. Move us into His Presence and Him into ours
- iv. A life of praise will cause our walk to become a habitation instead of a vistation
- d. We say I cant praise because
- i. I cannot feel Him
- ii. I am going through a battle
- iii. I cannot see the victory
- iv. Because I have failed and sinned and fallen short
- v. God says praise Him BECAUSE OF THOSE THINGS
- 5. God Wont Fit In The House We Built . . .
- a. . . . Because He inhabits out praise and our praise is too small!
