John 2:1-11

2:1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him. KJV

o    . . .woman . . .this is NOT the word for mother, it actually is closer to wife or married woman and doesn’t even hint at mother

·       This is not a mother and son conversation, this is far more weighty

·       This is not the voice of one who is familiar but of one who has faith in what she has not yet seen but knows she will see

o   He does not say not

o   She does not give up

 

It takes faith to please Him - Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is , and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. KJV

 

For God so loved the WORLD - God loves those that die and go to hell, but they still die and go to hell, because they do not believe.

 

Prissy faith 

o   We have forsaken seeking Him in desperation

o   The price is too high so we go somewhere else 

o   Somewhere along the road we have made holiness into prettiness

·       Holiness is

§  A man dressed in skins eating bugs

§  A man calling fire from heaven 

§  A naked bloody man hanging on a tree

 

Holy Violence

Luke 11:5-8

5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;

6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?

7 And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.

8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity(without modesty, without reverence, without shame)he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. KJV

Matthew 11:12-15

12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force .

13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. KJV
