John 13:21-31
21 When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
22 Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.
23 Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.
25 He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?
26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop , when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop , he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
28 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.
29 For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.
30 He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night. KJV
- o There was no indication to anyone other than Jesus at that moment that Judas was a bad apple
- • The way he spoke, acted, walked and talked gave nothing away
- • Jesus was given access to information that no one else at the table had through the operation of The Holy Sprit
1 Corinthians 12:8-10
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: KJV
- o Discerning - judicial estimation, to separate thoroughly, discriminate, hesitate, doubt, stagger, be partial
- o Working definition of discernment - - the ability to detect, to recognize and to perceive beyond what is said or heard
- o Sometimes you just know what you know and don’t know how you know it, but you know it.
- o Sometimes you know what you can’t explain to others and what others cannot see
- • Just because others cannot, or even more important WILL NOT see it does not mean you are wrong
- • Their eyesight may be different than yours
- • Sometimes they don’t see it because they don’t wanna see it.
- ♣ Ahab saw all that everyone else did on Mount Carmel
- ♣ Jezebel heard all that Ahab had seen
1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. KJV
- o Try - NT:1381 dokimazo (dok-im-ad'-zo); from NT:1384; to test (literally or figuratively); by implication, to approve: KJV - allow, discern, examine, like, (ap-) prove, try.
1 Samuel 16:5-7
5 And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.
6 And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD's anointed is before him.
7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. KJV
- o Looketh - OT:7200 ra'ah (raw-aw'); a primitive root; to see, literally or figuratively (in numerous applications, direct and implied, transitive, intransitive and causative):

- o we are not to accept information as true simply because someone has said it - when we do we
- • we weigh with broken weights - we go off of what we see and hear, God goes but the heart
Points Given
- • 2+2=4, not five, not three
- • If it doesn’t math it doesn’t math
- • Don’t add points or deduct points based on your personal relationship or lack thereof
- o Just because you love someone doesn’t change the math
Thieves And Murderers

- o Discernment will keep you from putting everyone in the same sinking ship and knowing who to rescue
- • Some thieves need you
- o Discernment shows you who to put into the inner circle and who to keep out
- • They aren’t all trying to kill you - but they will try to use what you have to further themselves in their area of influence
- • They can’t get it themselves bc they don’t have the relationship with God that you have because they aren’t willing to pay for it.
