1.     Notes From Ruth

a.     Ruth 4:1-10

4:1 Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.

2 And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.

3 And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's:

4 And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.

5 Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

6 And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.

7 Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.

8 Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe.

9 And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.

10 Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day. KJV

a.     Ruth 4:1 - It is in the gate that true intentions will be made known

1.  Character

2.  Which kingdom you are trying to build

3.  Know that God is working for you in the gates

a.     Through her being cast off she was brought in

b.    Ruth 4:8 - shoes

1.  He without shoes cannot walk far

a.     This shows in this passage that the nearest kinsman was not willing to walk with, or towards the things of God, but only limp away from them.

b.    It was not that he "cannot redeem it for myself" but rather that he would not.

c.     The things of  "man" were more important than the things of God

c.     Ruth 4:10 - purchased/redeemed

1.  Interesting translation

a.     Definition - attain, buy, recover, redeem, all words used to describe what Christ did for us on The Cross

2.  How much did Boaz pay for Ruth?

a.     His very life, all that he had became hers!

2.     It  Isn't Me, It's You

a.     It isn't you they don’t like, it is what is inside of you, what you are able to reproduce and how that offspring will affect the kingdom they are trying to build

b.    Stop taking it personally

1.     On a side note be cautious of others wanting what you have birthed and raised instead of wanting to birth and raise their own.

a.     Remember the story from Solomon, others are willing to let what you have birthed die - if they cannot have it no one can.

a.     John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber KJV

3.     Dirt And Babies

a.     Matthew 13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. KJV

1.     The nearest kinsman didn’t what Ruth because of what she was able to produce

2.     Others may want you ONLY for what you can produce.

3.     God wants you for who you are!

b.    The field was not stolen it was purchased

1.     Christ gave all that He had for us thereby giving us all that He has!

a.     1 Corinthians 6:20 for ye are bought with a price KJV

4.     Parasites

a.     What They Want From You Shows You Who They Are To You

b.    There are those that will attach themselves to your life only for what they can gain from your brokenness.

c.     Parasite by definition is “an organism that grows, feeds, and is sheltered on or in a different organism while contributing nothing to the survival of its host.”

d.    Stop being surprised when they treat you like you see them treating others

e.     Starve them out -  Matthew 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. KJV

f.      They never left you because they were never really with you
