Jeremiah 6:16 So now the LORD says, "Stop right where you are! Look for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, 'No, that's not the road we want! NLT

2 Timothy 3:1-7
3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. KJV
People who God chose were able to get the job done - what worked then still does today
- o Abraham - son of an idol worshiper
- o Moses - murderer
- o Peter - an unschooled fisherman
- • The same people who were unlearned, had a less than perfect past and were not quite sure about the ministry to which God had called them got the job done - God did not have a plan B, He called broken men to fix a broken world and then empowered them to do it
Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus KJV
Don’t forget our roots - don’t forget where we came from
We can change things up, change the names and descriptions and how we go about things, in the end we just complicate it all. What God said still works.
We can add big words and define it all in Greek and Hebrew but it sill just means the same thing - Jesus came, God gave power unto men, and we somehow have gotten lost in the simplicity of it all.
- o “Neurotheology” refers to the multidisciplinary field of scholarship that seeks to understand the relationship between the human brain and religion.
- o We try to understand a God that cannot fully be understood - His ways are higher than our ways.
- • Yes, we are supposed to study and to learn . . .
- ♣ 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. KJV
